I have SA 2006. If I do the above with Eastman, GA, it takes 85 seconds to bring up the map at Eastman. While it's doing that, it stops partway through to tell me it can display only 4000 of 5000+ results. When it finally finishes, it shows me 3 results (not 4000) - 2 of which are not Eastman, GA.

So what am I doing wrong?


I entered Eastman,GA into the Find space of my SA2004. The appropriate map came up at once, no noticeable delay at all.

I do not use layers, voice, etc. - might that be slowing down your program?

Hey. Thanks. That's it - the layer(s). And I see I can get around it by clicking cancel as soon as the 'searching name index' box comes up.

And I hope I can remember this a few weeks from now. I did just remember that, a long time ago (few months, maybe), Dan Lawyer said that Find would search layers.

But now that I know, I'd like to see an option to turn off layer searching. I like layers, but I rarely want to search them.
