We got to Twiltly Branch campground today, just 75 miles north of the Gulf. Unblievable damage here. Roofs stripped of shingles, trees torn up by their roots. It's just plain shocking to think of the magnitude of the damage done by Katrina. I'm amazed that, given the time now to really assess the damage, any reasonably intelligent human could be less than amazed at how rapid the response has been. These people have their lives back together, and it's pretty much business as usual. Blue tarps on roofs, and piles of cut up trees everywhere, but most businesses are open, and life is going on. Ain't America great?

Oh, and the best part of the day. 272 miles, all but 73 of it on two lane roads. 11.8 mpg towing the trailer. It just keeps getting better.

We made a short run of about 132 miles and ended up in a hidden valley down on the Minnesota River, south of Le Seuer. Peaceful Valley Campground. Nearly full with some bridge construction workers from all over the country. A few young couples with kids showed up just before dark. Despite tall trees and surrounded by hills, both dishes went up in short order. A handy picnic table for the TV dish made that easy. I only have a 68 signal on the Direcway but it was enough to lock it in. Even the cell phone works.

#1 grandson called. The groom's dinner was being held on a floating restaurant boat on Lake Minnetonka. Three hours of cruising with temps in the 40s didn't appeal to our old bones so we bailed out. Wedding tomorrow afternoon with reception in the Bearpath Country Club. I hope they ration the gin. Sunday we plan to head for Winnebago to let them trouble-shoot our remaining problems. I've got the generator working normally and replaced the thermostat on the water heater. The refrigerator works off and on and the furnace won't ignite at all. Let's hope the Winnebago folks can find the glitch without cleaning out my wallet. It seems to me it has to be boards or something wrong with the DC output voltage of the converter. We shall see.

You better hope you get that furnace working, but of course you have an electric heater and electric blankets.
Most of the time dc problems are the ground connections. But your was so spread out, if it was a grounding problem it had to be at the main battery bank. Maybe like you said, you got zapped and it effected several grounds.
