Just curious. Who is responsible, by law, to have an evacuation plan ready?
How, based on the information available, did anyone know that the
destruction would be spread over 90,000 sq miles?

Understand, I'm not saying there weren't some screw up's at the fed level,
but the locals blew it all to hell. There will be time to point fingers at a
bunch of people, but, it's not like nothing was being done. Could it have
been done faster. Maybe, or even most likely.

We know that there are several cities on the West Coast that are prone to
earthquakes. Many of those same cities are also in danger of tsunamis. There
is no way we can have the necessary goods, support, evacuation
transportation, search and rescue personnel and equipment standing by to
take care of a city that gets hit by an earthquake and then a tsunami in the
same 24 hour period.

Have you looked at the predictions for what would happen to Seattle/Tacoma
in case of a major eruption of Mt. Rainier? What should we do about that
"today"?

It's not good. But it's not a total failure either.
