Re: Do they or don't they

It could be expensive, but what're a thousand lives worth? And you
don't need thousands of them - just enough to preposition at a
staging location for disasters with warning - like hurricanes. For
non-warning disasters, FedEx can do overnights with a desktop or a
doodad. Can't our military air do as well with trucks? Sure they can.

What I can't understand is how we are still this ill prepared
after the 9/11 attacks. You would think that 4 years later we
wouldn't be unable to have a truly rapid response. If the
response is this bad for something where there was a
couple of days warning, what happens when we have zero
warning.

Hurricanes happen every year. Why aren't there trucks
pre-loaded with water and MRE rations and other vital
supplies in cities about 500 miles back from the coast.
They could be on the way at the first possible moment.
It looks like nothing is even started until after a disaster
occurs. Then it takes several days for the first significant
supplies to arrive, instead of hours.

You should watch the news unfold about this particular disaster. I think you'll find out what I have: The Mayor of NO and the Governor of LA were not up to the task - either in the planning or the execution stages. I don't know about supplies, but the Governor had 6000 NG and 1000 LEOs that she could have prepositioned before the hurricane. She didn't do it. She could have sent them immediately after the hurricane. She didn't do it.

Meanwhile, professional racist Guyot is on TV ranting about racism - calling the refugees "refugees" is demeaning and racist. If they'd been white, they wouldn't have called them refugees. Surely this dip*** has more important things to be concerned about?

Meanwhile, the black Democrat Mayor is evacuating foreign and domestic tourists from the hotel near the Mayor's HQ. Takes them to the dome in buses under guard. Orders that they moved to the front of the line to get bused out. And they're gone. Meanwhile, locals who have been there 4 days are still there.

Preplanning. Execution. Command and control. Responsibilities of the city and State gummits of LA. They dropped the ball on all counts, and now the Feds are bailing them out.

The clusterfucks at the dome and convention center. Mayor's responsibility. Dropped the ball. Bused thousands to Houston Astrodome. They seem to know what to do with the ball.

Theory don't mean squat if it don't work.
