Did you make any voltage measurements? On the start/stop switch,
there should be voltage on both outside legs and ground on the wiper,
center pin. The voltage will probably be a little less than 12. The
switch grounds the appropriate lead to initiate starting and stopping.
I'd look at in this order,
The remote start connector disconnected at the generator
Bad ground at the switch(s)
Cut remote control wire near the generator
If you don't find the problem doing the above, then unplug the remote
control connector at the genny and check for 12 volts and ground on
the appropriate pins (see the manual). Try starting and stopping the
generator by jumpering the appropriate pin to ground.
If no luck there, then you're going to have to look inside the control
box. Odds are the problem isn't in the box, since the remote switch
simply parallels the built-in one.
