I see. I gather that Canoli thinks it's OK to encourage men to follow
a particular career path, and reward them for doing so, while
discouraging and penalizing women with the same goals. Canoli sure
doesn't believe in equal opportunity.
One wonders how many of the men would have overcome equivalent
obstacles.

That's true in a few cases, false in the overwhelming majority of
cases.

Domination is the wrong term which is, no doubt, why Canoli chose it.
Historically, it's been more about (but not ALL about) preventing head
to head competition with men. I'll let Canoli try to explain why men
would fear such competition and why many women have accepted such
artificial limitations.
If Canoli does try, I'd advise him to start with his bible or koran,
whichever book he prefers.
No amount of desire, enthusiasm, or talent will get a woman a job as a
taxi driver in Saudi Arabia, and only very recently and very
occasionally will desire, enthusiasm, and talent produce a job as a
race car driver in the United States.
In most aspects of life, the situation is much better today than in the
past. I've seen substantial progress in the last 30 years.
However, if Canoli denies that women have been kept out of activities
in the past, or denies that much of that crap remains, then Canoli
doesn't have a firm grasp on the real world.
