My latest purchase was done as a business for exactly the reasons
others have listed. I've been a loyal Dell customer for many years,
but the experiences with support during the last 18 months told me
things have changed. For this last purchase, I was promised in-USA 24
hr tech support within 1-2 minutes (I forget exactly). I've been very
happy with this support.
When I asked them how a non-business person gets the support, I was
told they can purchase gold support for an add'l amount. I would not
purchase a Dell w/o this support now - really not worth it. It's not
just the language difficulties - other companies have Indian support
centers that are competent. Dell must hire the bottom of the barrel in
India because they are flat-out incompetent...
