I mentioned in passing that I'd lost a friend a couple weeks ago.
Although he was interred last week in another state, we are holding a
local memorial service this weekend. I have volunteered to produce a
short video tribute with a collection of still images and video
clips. Most of the work has been done by another of his close
friends, but I've taken on the finishing touches.
What I need from the eclectic minds here are music suggestions for a
touching soundtrack to run behind the final scenes, including some
from the funeral itself. Yeah, it's a maudlin question. I can offer
two that are in the vein I'm looking for, "Calling All Angels" by Jane
Siberi, and In that "Arms of an Angel" by Sarah McLachlin. The latter
I was going to use, but in reading the lyrics, it seems to suggest the
angel as being a prostitute; not the tribute I'm shooting for.
My deceased friend was National Guard, three tours in the ME, and
loved this country, so something in the patriotic vein wouldn't be out
of place; and the country genre would also be acceptable.
I'd like something with the haunting sound of my two ideas above, with
an appropriate lyric for burying a lost friend. If anybody has a
suggestion, that'd be great. I'm on a tight schedule for this; and I'm
stumped.
TIA,
Joe F.
Another one just hit me - "Over the Rainbow-What a Wonderful World" by
Izzy Kamakawiwo'ole. Not "patriotic" or anything like that, just, well,
a nice, sweet version of the song. The album it's from also has a nice
version of "Take Me Home, Country Roads," too.
