Hauling on the foward cast?

I seem to reach a mental hurdle when I try to haul on the foward cast.
Backcast is easy but foward my casting arm loses all purpose when I
attempt to haul and the line loses all speed. Is there any tips,
exercises or mental ways to approach it? I know it's probably hard to
explain. The ocassion does arise where I need to throw out a bunch of
line so I've been practicing out on the lawn and getting struck with
the polio stick everytime.
