It could'a been worse. The warden apparently didn't notice (and we somehow
forgot to mention) that we didn't have helmets.

The whole thing is made all the more curious by the fact that he showed us
on his GPS that the lake we were on was surrounded by private property,
including the trail by which we came in from the parking lot. In other
words, by law, we were not even required to have valid stickers on the
vehicles as long as we were not riding on any public roadway or other public
property, and anything and everything we did was, in any case, outside the
jurisdiction of the U.S. Forest Service, since none of it occurred on
National Forest land. Most pecwelier!

Brett met with approval the suggestion that he consult some detailed maps
and perhaps the county Register of Deeds office and Highway Department
before settling on a course of action with regard to further legal
proceedings. :)
