Sorry-- Of course the trout would always see the same color when
presented with the same color. I was answering a different question,
and pointing out just because two orange samples look the same to us,
that doesn't mean that they look the same to the trout.

Exactly,
I believe it was in the book Trout Flies by Dave Hughes, an
accomplished fly-tier,
that it's still not defined exactly how a trout perceives the color in
a fly.

To clarify even more-- I can take two orange samples that look exactly the
same to a human, and I can put them under a spectrophotometer, and the
output of the device could show two very different color spectra. If the
differences are in the UV range, they may very well look different to a
trout.
AHA! Now we're getting somewhere. If we are talking about two
different "colors" (meaning simply that the two things aren't identical)
that's a different story. But even then, it would seem the shift would
remain constant. IOW, let's take the two different samples of orange
and call them "Florida orange" and "Brazilian orange." If trout
perceive Florida orange as "Florida blue", it could be calculated how
they would see "Brazilian blue." They wouldn't see Florida orange as a
form of blue and Brazilian orange as some random other color.
