And if they are guilty then they too shall be punished. I'm all for
such punishment for government workers committing crimes.

I can read and even chuckle at your line of bull***. At least you are
predictable and consistent if pretty inured to factual content. But the
above statement on your part is a whopper I am surprised you did not
gag yourself on.

David, David, David there is not one of these thieving, war profiteering,
assholes you haven't fiercely defended. "Punishment"? If you have been
consistent about anything its defending the right of your team to steal
and
spy to their hearts content. Im starting to wonder exactly why you defend
war profiteers so fiercely.

Dave

I don't shif a git whether you believe my sincerity or not, David.
Your biggest problem is that it's only Republicans who have broken the
law. What about Clinton and his wife? I don't remember you calling
for any punishment for him.

So, *** you if you don't believe in my sincerity. You once said that
I was a terrible citizen. You don't know me, David, and never will,
but I'll guarantee I do more work for my community than you do, and
give more to charities than you do, and help support more folks than
you do.

Dave

I do not recall saying you were a bad citizen. And I know nothing about
your community or the work you do in it. If you feel I have said these
things I apologize.

As to your citizenship . . . I think you are within 3 SD, and typical of
allot of men whose experiences center around a few institutions, and you
also seem to fit a sub pattern of folks who have had some good fortune,
probably backed by some hard work, and alternate between defensiveness and
assertiveness about their worthiness for the fruits of their labors. Its a
common pattern and in some ways I share it, though probably from a more
modest material level. Im sure you are thankful for your good fortune, as
am I. But if we are honest isn't some of it just good luck? My old man
giving money or food to a bum always said "there but for the grace of God go
I" and my old man was a poor man.

In terms of your politics . . . you put out a fairly simple line, kinda
typical of men who have played out much of their professional lives in the
military and with defense contractors. Honestly its hard for me to credit
these kinds of beliefs because they are like beliefs that come out of a
hermetic monastery: they are nurtured in a protected cocoon, do not have to
be tested against many realities or real economics. Ive got to appreciate
some of the things they do, but frankly, I think the spendthrift nature of
the beast, and the deadly business its engaged in, absolutely requires
caution and a civilian control sensibility.

And this leads us to the "sincerity" thing. I know you are sincere. Probably
more than most of us. Maybe thats why feelings get hurt so easily. That's
also probably why you think you have to defend the current set of clowns
even in their criminal acts. And it has to be frustrating when the only
stuff ya got is . . . well you can see where Im coming from . Dave, I
think you are a standup guy, know a lot of stuff and have some great
experiences and skills to share, have a good heart, and I thank you for your
military service. And Im glad you are getting satisfaction from good works.
But about politics and good government policy you know diddly. No one's
perfect.

Dave, like you said when the Bushies won, "get over it." Now some are likely
to go to prison for their thievery, bribery, extortion, corruption, war
profiteering etc.... so "get over it." Its not your fault (or Clinton's).
:-)
