Out of curiosity, what is the flatness tolerance across 10 (or 30) feet for
this kind of surface plate?
Scott, were you ever in the basement of Glennan here on campus? My dad ran
the laser lab down there and the optical tables sat on an isolated floor
that ran clear down to bedrock on sand. Even the CSX freight trains that go
by so frequently there (what, maybe 100' from the building) wouldn't move
the tables!
Don't think he had a surface plate quite that size though...
