Try smaller fly fished slower, My most consistent stillwater retrieve is a
series of 1/2 inch strips done with just my finger tips, about 1 each second
but with pauses every few 'strips' .... you have to be very alert takes are
subtle just a tightening of the line, not a jerk
.... or WAY fast if that doesn't work, a good Striper retrieve is two
handed, as fast as you can go
...... or let it sink and just as he loses interest strip it up in front of
him
...... or soak it in syrup
