'll say this again, Dave: Max Cleland claimed to have been awarded
the PH on his web site. He did not win the PH. Perhaps he should
have, but he didn't. To claim that he did is not fair to all that
have been award the medal.

Dave, try as I might, I can't scare up one web reference to Cleland claiming that he ever received a purple heart. Not a one, credible or uncredible, and I've been trying for a while. I've seen one article two describing him as a recipient, but no attribution to him or his campaign, and an editors retraction right under it. If he claimed it, I can understand your concern, but I can't find one citation for that claim. If I recall correctly, he claimed to be wounded in battle when his injuries didn't count as a combat wound. If you think that claiming his three lost limbs was a combat injury is worth your eternal derision, that's fine too.

Tick...Tock....Tick....Tock....

Hey! Lay off Dave! He didn't make it up. He heard it somewhere, OK?
