Some of us had noticed, yes.
However, she didn't do it, she didn't want him to do it, but she figured
he was the man on the spot and Oz was hers only in name, and so she
wouldn't interfere.
Since the law was changed so the Privy Council is no longer the last
court of appeal, and since we have our own honours, and since it is
extremely unlikely any later Sovereign will interfere in the GG's
sillinesses any more than Her Maj did then, I can't see how she's more
of a Queen than our current SCA Queen is.
OK, she's on the coinage, and she'll get a fancy car if she visits,
that's about it.
The Royalty of Lochac has a lot more influence for good or ill on their
SCA subjects than the Royalty of Britain has on their Australian ones.
Take it from someone who lived through the changes. Australia now is
very different to the Australia of my first Royal Visit, never mind the
first one my mother saw. Pig Iron Bob was over the top even then....
