it, and believe me, you are talking about a first-rate scientist and
what Bertrand Russell would have called a passionate skeptic. He
associated all this with his work, and was intrigued! I'll say a bit
more later, though my reason for posting this is to find out what
others make of it!

No one knows. How about the blind man being struck by lightning and being able to see? How about the guy struck by lightning and one eye goes from blue to green? No one knows.
Put enough juice through anyone and the results are unpredictable. None of what you say is surprising to me.
