No on ID?? Another nail in the coffin.

US Registering to vote:
Federal: A law (which has wide support) has been proposed. You will
need a Govt issued photo ID. In practice this means the "REAL ID ACT"
State issued (after July 2008) Driver's license (or equiv. non-driving
ID), printed Landscape, and involving a thorough database check.

State: Many States have already passed their own version. A few Judges
have proved tiresome but they will be given the old heave-ho.
Yes, this means a few old wrinklies will have to be wheeled over to
the DMV for an hour or so if they wish to vote.
(Also Some States now have vicious penalties for 'Volunteer
Voter-Registration Orgs' that fail to dot an i or cross a t)

The New York Times says all the above is "appalling" so you know it
must be right.

Give it up. One assumes the above will spread to the UK. I remember
registering to vote in the UK entirely on my say-so (Pointless, since
my Mum always voted the opposite way. ) But at that time, of course,
wogs were not a problem.
Love to all.
