But I do
care that people will (seemingly and consistently ) misquote, re write
and in some cases just make up things that I have not said and launch
an attack ( and insults ) about this made up information! And the
insults? I don't remember doing anything other than replying to an
insult and for the most part this has been from one poster. I don't
consider it an insult to point out that a poster is replying to
something that I did not say. It may sound this way as often as I have
to say it,
*Often* doesn't do it justice. It's constant and unremitting. It's also,
if I may say so, completely unnecessary and profoundly tedious. Just say
what you have to say and be done with it. The content will speak for
itself, for better or worse. A ratio of 5% content to 95% complaining (or,
for that matter, even a ratio of 70% content to 30% complaining) will not
enhance the content in any way.
It's worth observing that none of the other posters in this newsgroup seem
to find it necessary to constantly complain about being misquoted, spun,
rewritten, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc. What conclusions can be drawn from
that? Of the possible conclusions, which seems most likely?
Also, I wonder how germane it is to worry so much about being misquoted in a
medium such as this, a 100% written medium with a permanent record of every
word instantly available to all -- often by simply scrolling up in a
message. We're not dealing with spoken utterance here. Those who
participate in or follow this newsgroup know what was said, and by whom.
but this is not an insult. This is a correction!! and I
don't have to put up with people changing what I say. Most of what I
say is not mainstream anyway,
Which, I'd suggest, significantly raises the hurdle for you to clearly
articulate it and fully support it. Things get to be "mainstream" for a
reason. Sometimes it's the wrong reason, of course, and the resulting
mainstream thought is wrong. Happens all the time. But if you're going to
attack the mainstream, you need to have a pretty incisive argument and
well-documented proof, don't you?> I don't need any spins to take it even
farther away from the topic. Sorry to see that you have (at least in
these last few posts) have seen fit to jump on that particular
bandwagon. I had not seen it in your posts before.

All I want is a straight answer. This is a public group. I can propose
any point of view that interests me. So can you. I have proposed a few
questions on this group. To disagree is no problem with me. To show
logic or examples or to inquire about details, to discuss and to see
if there is any way to prove or disprove, to investigate and research,
to explore the subject and to ignore the subject is all fine with me.
I do, however, have problems when people just spout off that something
is wrong! that there is no way that this is possible! that this is
dumb! or any number of insulting ways of saying this BUT without any
reason is just too much of a slap in the face. I have seen it in other
posts. If you have not, you are not looking very carefully. Then when
I ask about why, I get more non answers, and more insults. Read the
posts if you have not noticed this! I get tired of it.
I am starting to realize what some of my friends have said. Why
bother. Its a waste of time. There will be no one to carry on an
intelligent conversation or brainstorm. I said, it can't be all that
way. I am stubborn. I STILL think that it doesn't have to be that way.
I have had some perfectly sane, logical and informative chats with
members of this group that does not contain spin, gross
misunderstanding or deceit (I can't tell!) I have had some on the
group and off the group. There are a lot of thinkers out there. Then
there are a few that just can't stand to hear something that they were
not taught. If you disagree with them, there is no reasons, just
constant quibbling without any reasons except that it is not that way.
(not to mention, that from the beginning I said that these topics were
speculative theory positions. Yes I get emotional. But I don't use the
profanity, I don't say that they are stupid, I don't call names etc.
So this is the 3rd conversation that has mushroomed into complete
chaos. You can look at it as that they have won if you like. They have
blocked free thought and shown that answers and opinions and
discussion won't be going on here. So I will continue to monitor and
comment on the group, but I find a way to ignore this ignorant
answers.
Sorry if I offended anyone that is trying to understand some things. I
assure you that if you read what I have been saying, you will have a
deeper understanding of WHY a lot of music is the way it is. This is
not my work. I wish I could take credit for some of these concepts. If
you are interested, jump in or write me privately. (I will be quicker
with my responses there as I will not be spending time trying to get
some real answers here.
I am here. I will entertain most speculative theory and will discuss
any system of music theory. I have been fortunate to be in a lot of
interesting places with some very interesting teachers. I am willing
to share. Take it or leave it.
