I will do that soon! You've given me a lot of help here, Steve. Thanks.
Think "cadence," eh? That's funny, because I have no problem with
*beginning* a phrase -- any phrase -- it's ending it that is the
problem. But now maybe I'll try thinking of the end before I start. I
have noticed that I get myself into a box I can't easily get out of if
I don't know where I am going to end up. LOL.

As a way to "cheat", I tell my theory students to work backwards! Often, the
cadence is the one thing you know, so it's easier for them to work from the
beginning and ending towards the middle (in a test-taking situation where
every point counts!). But the idea is not so far-fetched - again, if you
think about language, and you think about writing a sentence, chances are,
if you're just free associating, you'll end up rambling, and not really
making any points, becuase you haven't really thought about what it is you
were going to say before you actually started writing the sentence and what
happens is you get a run-on sentence with a lot of commas, or, at best, you
get a rather improvisatory stream of conciousness style of writing that,
though, not without merit, might be difficult to comprehend by the end
reader, and, at worst, sounds like you don't know what you're taking about.
Right?
