But hose are not so fundamental. There is a more fundamental element that
those all contain... spefifically the idea of pitch... without pitch one
doesn't have any one of those. (I mean pitch in a more general sense than
necessarily musical pitch...)... also, time is an intrinsic variable to them
all too. (without time one cannot have much of anything?)
The idea is when you look at a musical score you see many different
elements(lets just talk about the graphical elements)... you see notes,
articulation's, clefs, etc... You see a lot of stuff that has no real part
in the "real" part of the music. i.e., when music is created, it is created
using what fundamental elements? pitch, time, and loudness seem to be the
most fundamental(one can say durration is part of the time)... I think this
is all but I am not completely sure and I'm definately not sure if these are
the whole ones that I can consider to be fundamental(because it might be
better for me to "pretend" that some others are fundamental when they are
not).
(using your logic above I could then say that performance must be a
fundamental element too... which it definitely is depending on how you look
at it ;) and when you get down to it just about everything starts to becomes
fundamental.)
