Bands like 5 UU's and Stereolab made me feel great about recent
music, so I am not yearning for the good old days. I just
seriously don't hear any all electronic albums that seem
to be at the same level as the ones I've mentioned (meeting
my criteria above). I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Here's where we will both fail.

1) "my criteria above".

If I were to attempt to get you to go outside your criteria, I would
fail and then it would fail you by default.

On the other hand, being open minded about the criteria may help.

2) "proven wrong".

Ouch. Here's where we may both fail again. Your stance is one that
is "fairly" defined - but not wrong. Me, trying to prove it different
will fail me from the start.

BUT!

There is a middle ground... I have heard plenty of electronic (based)
albums in my day and must have a 1,000 or more hanging about. I find
that people like:

Klaus Schulze
Conrad Schnitzler
Asmus Tietchens
Red Shift
Jiannis
Bernd Kistenmacher
Radio Massacre International
Steve Roach
"Dumb Type" Works Vol. 1 (?) Japanese Electronics
Some of Pete Namlook
Ian Boddy

and some others which I could post for a while get me through the
electronic urge...

Even some of the newer stuff by the older hacks have some merit.
Finding ancient stuff like from the BBC, Subotnick, Henry,
Stockhausen, Cage, and some indie releases I've been sent find me
wanting more.

Some of it I thought was blips, bleeps and farts from the rings of
Saturn but have also come to enjoy the utter bizarreness and
bewildering maniacalness (?) some employ. For instance, I'm listening
to Schnitzler's "CONtainer" which is 6 cassettes (that's right) with
12 sides of mutated electronic wonders and anal putrefaction. (whew!)

I dunno. Trying to apply my overall electronic tastes to fit a
category is a test of pure frustration and absolute nihilism.

(Wow - did he just say that?)

Your serve...
