In this past sunday's NY Times magazine, The Ethicist (a column of ethical advice) was
replying to someone (an older person) who skipped to the head of a long airport security line
by using a wheelchair, even though they don't normally use or need a wheelchair. Apparently
there was no explicit rule against this, but the Ethicist noted that it fails the 'if
everyone did it' test.

I would wager that buying a CD, copying it, and selling the original also fails the 'if
everyone did it' test. Seems to me that if everyone did it, it would very negatively impact
artists, as well as the companies that sell their work. How can it be 'right' for one person
to do it, if it's obviously wrong for many to do it?

Come to think of it, I'll submit this to the Ethicist and see what he thinks.
