Judson and DMM,
I read the first 2 paragraphs of what you wrote and stopped. Sorry, I
know you worked really really hard on trying to tell me that I am a
louse but all of your crafty sentences made me sleepy.
In the two threads that I gave my OPINION on, I made two main points:
1. Parents shouldn't bring small children to Phish shows.
2. Someone who has a small child and has a long history of being
addicted to hard core drugs should reexamine their lives and put aside
things (like Phish culture) that might enable a relapse.
Sorry but those two statements are not all that crazy. I have
received 3 emails from people who don't want to be ganged up on by you
3, agreeing with me. One person wrote (cut and pasted, verbatim) "why
do they take EVERYTHING you say and spin it like it is the most evil
thing ever uttered?".
The craziest thing is this "700 Club" reference - not sure where that
came from. Full disclosure: I am very liberal. I don't go to church
but I believe in God. I've been all over the world on tour with Phish
and have been seeing them since 1990. I've taken my share of droogz
and believe in moderation. I don't think I'm better than him or you
or DMM (but I am better than marcman). You would paint me as some sort
of right wing psycho condemning DEG from my ivory tower. This is
simply not the case.
Finally, I gave my flame (which was asked for, by the way) that DEG's
writings didn't sound very good for someone who is being given his
last chance, someone who (if he doesn't make drastic changes) may be
dead within 5 years and never live to fully transform from his poor
life chioices. This is not someone caught with a dime bag doing drug
court to clean his record - he has shown time and time again that he
ultimately chooses self destrution over being the kind of father he
made a promise to be when his daughter was born. Sorry if my truth
differs from your view that he just needs a "good stream from 8" to
solve his (quite serious, family threatening, life threatening)
issues.
I stand by everything I said and I really don't think I said anything
so crazy as to warrant such mob mentality criticism.

I guess I really did waste my time, but rest assured it wasn't that much effort, fortunately I don't need to "work real hard" at typing a logical post. Give me a little credit, will ya?
No wonder you never responded to my football analogy, you never read it, thanks for the consideration, at least I read yours and responded accordingly.
I would appreciate you not throwing Wayne or Marcman's comments back at me. I never mentioned anything about the 700 club and I don't recall antagonizing you. At least I typed coherent, relatively well-though out posts. I simply disagreed with you and explained why. If I'm participating in a thread, I at least give people the common courtesy of reading their responses, even if I don't agree with them.
The only time I refused to read a post in a thread from someone I'm in a discussion with, is the podcast guy who can't be bothered to formulate a coherent sentence. I gave you the benefit of the doubt and the common courtesy to read what you wrote to me, don't I deserve the same from you?
Your loss, perhaps Marcman is right about your closed minded attitude.
It's a limited view of the world, if you only have your own perspective, but I guess you're fine with that. But don't expect me to bother with reading anything you write, if you're not reading my responses.
By the way, this mob mentality you speak of, is simply a consensus of people who disagree with you, get over yourself. If you have secret admirers who agree with you in private, why don't you keep it private?
My wife agrees with me, but I don't throw that out, because it's not relevant to the discussion if she's not part of the discussion. I could say all kinds of people agree with my point of view on things, but if they don't publicly state it, what's it worth to anyone? I could say my dog loves me and greets me when I come home, but how do you know I even have a dog? In fact I don't have a dog, but how would you know? See my point?
Good day,
Dave
