| I hear ya. I guess you're right, the episode was really more about
| confirmation than about adding depth to the story. I hope it doesn't get
| too supernatural, though.
I agree. They could ruin it if they take it *too* far out there.....
I don't think they are going to. I think that the writers (unless they
are bluffing) have a clear direction with everything in developing the
story. And I think that revealing what happened in the third hatch
opens up a lot of questions about what will happen next in the
progression of the story and also sets us up for the rest of the story.
Among the questions that were brought up were...
1.) Are the islanders a part of an isolation experiment?
2.) Are the others really scientists with the Dharma Initiative?
3.) Is Rousseau really one of the others?
4.) Will Kate and or the Asian woman get sick? (the baby was sick just
long enough to spread germs)
5.) Since we know that Rousseau's daughter survived (which seemed to
surprise her), is the illness a red herring?
6.) In the nursery of the third bunker there was a mobile with Oceanic
planes flying around it...WHATS UP WITH THAT?
7.) Is Mr. Gale an other, and if so, why did he allow himself to be
caught? What is his purpose?
8.) When will the islanders realise that there is a cache of Vaccine
inside of the hatch (remember that ***...I can't remember his
name...stadium runner would shoot himself up every day.)
9.) Where in the hell did stadium runner guy run off to? (I think he's
with the others)...
10.) How long till we get to see the other 3 hatches on the island
?(According to the Orientation Film, that film was 3 of 6 training
films, and that it was the Orientation for station 3 which implies that
there are 6 total stations on the island.)
The cloud of smoke is cool and all, but I am so excited to learn more
of the "secrets" of the island, and this weeks episode set us up to
learn more secrets. It was one of those episodes where every time
something new happened, I was like "OHHHH ***". And then when Mr.
Gale started fucking with Locke at the end, that was the icing on the
cake.
One thing I will say, is that I think they lose a lot by not keeping
some threads active...such as the Walt and his dad Thread. I have a
feeling that there are cameras inside of the bunker and that when the
computer was "pretending" to be Walt, it was someone on the other side
of the Island, one of the others or Dharma scientists. Remember, it
was Walt telling his dad to come find him that caused Kate and Jack and
John to go after him, which caused there to be the confrontation with
the others. Based on what we have seen so far, I think "the others"
engineered that confrontation. Why hasn't Walt's dad tryed to talk to
him on the computer anymore? What is he doing in the meantime instead?
That storyline in the story just trailed off without much
resolution...which sucks. Similarly, I think that Rousseau is an other
who has cleverly gained support from the group by seeming to be outside
the others and outside of the survivors. Remember, it was all
Rousseaus fault that they discovered Mr. Gale, and it was her fault
that they found the Third bunker. Rather convenient isn't it?
I didn't really think much about any of this until last weeks
episode... which is why I thought that episode was so damn good. It
was a pivotal episode where a lot came together in an interesting way
to set us up for even more cool *** to happen.
And it is why I love the damn show so much.
I can't wait till wednesday night :))
