You can't have it all (well, most of us can't). Advantages and

a smaller flat on a skankier council estate is made up for by being
able to walk to zone 1. For the same money I could have got a larger
house with a garden in a posher area, but it would have necessitated
more travel and owning a car. You pays your money and makes your

Yes, but my point was that they really should look at improving the
transport infrastructure to help cater for the millions of people who
*don't* live in zone 1 or 2. Even if they just had the tubes and
trains running 1 hour later at night then it would be a great help.
I don't feel people should somehow be "penalised" or lose out because
they choose to live outside of the centre - for whatever reason.
After all, we pay our council tax just like everyone else.

These days I actually prefer to go to matinees so I don't have my
enjoyment of an evening marred by wondering whether I'm going to catch
my train afterwards - and I'm really annoyed when I don't have time to
stay for some or all of the curtain calls because I have to dash off.
I know a lot of other people are in the same boat - someone was
mentioning it in the latest edition of the ROH's "About the House"
magazine
