Although I want to agree with John, I don't see that happening. It's
not enough to killfile people (and I'm certainly guilty of that a bit
with Charlie), but to contribute posts is also necessary, and the
truth is that most of what is getting posted of any interest is
political in nature. I don't think that the atmosphere is very
conducive, as Bill says, to people sharing their real musical thoughts
here. I used to really hate that point of view, but I understand it
better now. The problem isn't only that so many older posters have
left, but that they haven't been replaced by 'newer' people interested
in opera - if you imagine someone coming in and looking at a random
handful of postings, you can understand why. I continue to like an
open forum, but fortunately for most of us there are a number of
alternatives, and perhaps more to come.
Having said that, I wish you would consider at least ocassional
posting here.

Hi Frank,
I would hate to see you leave. I have decided to change my behaviour,
Mark has pledged to do the same. If more of us make a concerted
effort then the place will improve. I would urge you to say, adopt
the kill file approach, and it will continue to improve. I admit I
was part of the problem, every incremental improvement will help, 5% a
month, the place will be back to its old self in no time ;-)
Best regards
