NONSENSE

I'm the one who wrote the original post. As I said, I'm still hoping
you and others are right about Ed and that he will eventually deal
honestly with me. But the plain facts of the matter are, as of today,
Premiere Opera has had my money since 3/18 and has not sent my order
(11 DVDs). I've been emailing almost daily for two full weeks (and
even found out their telephone number off of another internet site and
left voice mail yesterday), asking them to cancel my order and issue a
refund. That's when the email replies from them dried up. Not a good
sign, in my opinion, but I'm still somewhat hopeful and will update
the thread by Friday with any news.

As for learning how to listen to older recordings, made before the
technology was perfected, I understand and agree with you 100%. I own
everything commercially available by Caruso and Ponselle, two of my
very favorites. And yes, after a short while, your brain stops hearing
the hisses and clicks and you can truly appreciate the beauty of the
voices. My complaint was regarding a very recent concert DVD with
Renee Fleming and Jean-Yves Thibaudet which was obviously recorded off
of a BBC television broadcast. I just didn't expect something so
recently recorded to be so badly done, and I mean very badly. If it
were Caruso on that DVD, believe me, I'd treasure it. But being that
there are plenty of commercially available Fleming DVDs, with superb
sound and picture, this becomes a different matter altogether.
Thanks for your response and, again, I've got my fingers crossed that
this situation with be resolved happily.
