Re: Idiot Poster Killed His Credibility with Stupid Posts

The plot of the film - set now, I should add, and not in the C19th as I
fondly supposed earlier - is rather like one of those 1970s compilation
horrors with multiple character narratives, like "From Beyond the Grave" or
"Dr. Terror's House of Horrors" whereby different characters - in this
instance, spectators at the magic show - are part of a bet to have their
souls seduced which is the price of rescuing Christopher Plummer's 1,000
year-old Doctor's daughter from the Devil ( Tom Waits ). A mysterious
stranger, Tony ( Ledger ) appears to guidesthem through the Doctor's magic
mirror into a parallel/alternative universe. Principal photography had begun
in December, on location here in London, broke for Christmas/New Year and
had already resumed at the time of Ledger's death.

I should have thought that one of the advantages of a phantasmagorical magic
mirror through which one passes into different universes was that you might
end up in one not necessarily resembling the person you went in as, rather
like our endless transmogrifications of Doctor Who through God-knows how
many different actors. Between narrative tinkering of this sort and a spot
of the same - actually now much-improved - CGI technology that allowed a
very dead Oliver Reed to carry on regardless in "Gladiator" - and I'm sure
that the film can be completed, though at what cost, literal and
metaphorical, who knows ?
