And if you are talking about purely geographical, how do you deal with other 'Overseas Territories' such as Anguilla and Montserrat. Or if you then involve 'former colonies', I'm not sure that Belize and Guyana would count, before even considering the various Caribbean islands that used to be British colonies and are now in the Commonwealth eg Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, St Lucia, Nor the French former colonies.

BTW, I was taught that Latin America includes those nations in which the
principal language is either Spanish or Portugeuse, i.e., Mexico and all of
the nations south of Mexico all the way down to Tierro del Fuego. But I was
also taught that the sun orbits around the earth.

I agree with a lot of that, but I suspect that the term Latin America
was probably invented as a way to include Cuba, Puerto Rico, the
Dominican Republic portion of Hispaniola, etc into a Spanish-speaking
subset of the Americas. Those countries are excluded by the choices
'Central America' and 'South America'.
It is not inconceivable that organized baseball may have played a role
in coining, or at least popularizing the phrase, as there have been
many fine players from the 'Latin-American' islands (and from Mexico,
Venezuela and other continental countries too) for many decades. In
the old days, when baseball salaries were modest, many big-leaguers,
including some star players, played winter ball in the 'Latin American'
islands -- especially in baseball-mad Cuba.

Alrighty. I was just covering what I thought I remembered being taught Lo these many decades ago. I reckon there's nothing official about these groupings and classifications. But now that I've got your attention how do you figure the Falkland Islands fits in? Could it be that Great Britain is partly part of Latin America? Groovy!
