Re: Singers' websites

Hay, Jon -

Someone, much wiser than me, once sent me an E-Mail that stated:
"Illegitimi Non Carborundum" (Thought I'd share witcha FWIW).

Paul: That's nice of you to say. But the fact remains I do not enjoy
being put in such a bad light. That's not the kind of man I am...nor do I
wish to be so perceived.

There's one poster with whom I simply cannot have any kind of discourse.
Another...who well meaning as she was...still chose to believe me a liar.
And I still don't understand just what it means to be called 'precious'.

So while I bear no ill will whatsoever...I think it best to avoid any
future such unpleasantness. It just all too hurtful. When I've responded
in kind to negative and/or small-minded posters...I'm always left with
feeling no better than they...and a cold taste in my mouth. It simply
drains too much of what emotional and physical strength I've left to me.

I've really taken no pleasure from this subject...and will stand by my
decision to never advance personal opinions on future performances of
whatever I see from now on.

I feel there are more than ample opportunities to post musical
questions/answers or discuss performance schedules, the technical merits
of one singer or another...things orchestral & symphonic...and perhaps an
anecdote here and there. Besides...I genuinely enjoy reading posts of
many RMO denizens...so why should I stop entirely.

I will never, ever give an opinion of any performance or ANYTHING I ever
see or hear again. This has simply gotten out of hand and I've been
made to appear a villain. I think the word you used...'vendetta' may be
closer to the truth than you may realize.

Jon, JON, J-O-N!!!!

1. Your (along with Maestri Carlito & Eduardo) anecdotes & FIRST-HAND
experiences are priceless & makes all this torture worthwhile. Just
DARE refrain from giving your opinion & I'll, I'll come over to your
wooded area & steal that FAUST!

2. Nothin' "wrong" with being the "villain" occasionally - more fun &
nobody f....s with ya...The Shadow knows.....

3. I have the greatest regard & respect for you as a person, your
tremendous knowledge of performing & performers & the tidbits you
all-too-rarely share with us: CONTINUA.......
