It's hard to say - first, at least on concert stage, she doesn't present as
a very sympathetic Liu, and although I acknowledge it's a very superficial
judgment, the way she moves her arms around reminds me of a combination of
Kathy Battle and Celine Dion (he said, bitchily).. Going beyond that, she
seemed to me all efficiency and not much more. It may well be for this kind
of a walk-on that's all she was able to do, and it may also be that the
voice itself is not in the same shape it was even five years ago - there's a
very dusky quality to the lower voice, as I heard it. I also acknowledge
that a lot of people like her (although apparently not Peter Gelb : )/
