Thanks For The Memories

This time of endings and beginnings seems a good and right one to take
my leave of RMO.
As I'm naturally sentimental, it isn't something that's particularly
easy for me to do; but after almost seven years, I feel it's time to
move on.
I had originally intended a Wagnerian retrospective, but I have no wish
to bore anybody; so I'll just keep it Puccini.

I have no illusions that I've been among the more knowledgeable posters
here - some of whom I'm really in awe of. But I came here in the first
place to learn and learn I have. And I'll always be grateful to all the
wonderfully kind folks who have been so helpful over the years.
All I can say is that I've tried to ask a few questions and make a few
observations that I thought some might find of some interest.

I also am well aware that some here will be glad to see me go. That's
fine, too. Although they may have been annoyed with me, I've always
called 'em the way I see 'em, and let the chips fall where they may. But
I don't think I've ever written anything of a serious nature that I
didn't truly believe, so that if I was wrong, at least I was *sincerely*
wrong, and prompted by honest and well intended motives always.
So for those who weren't impressed, sorry - and it's fair enough: the
feeling is mutual.

But for the most part, I want to thank all the truly fine people who
were so enlightening and fun. There are too many to thank by name, but
we know who you are.

Despite everything, I like to think that, as opera lovers we are all
part of a special brotherhood that is in on something wonderful,
something that we should all feel blessed by. Maybe we're all like
eagles; few, but mighty.

And I wish you all the very best!

My first post here related to that beloved and evergreen work, La
Boheme, and I can think of no better words with which to conclude than
those spoken on a snowy dawn:
"Addio, senza rancor."
