SJT may be right for all I know (and I don't know) but I can say that
being completely pissed never stopped Evgeny Svetlanov, so far as I
know. Mr Chalabala was also prone to the odd "tipple" and one Mark
Reizen once said he never went on stage without some Vodka "helpers"
first.

And the late Mr D Brain (horn player) said he lubricated his instrument
by tipping half a pint of beer into it before a performance. Asked if
this helped the performance he said: "No, but the spit tastes a hell of
a lot better."

If she is a victim of the Demon Drink that is very sad.

AMW, who once had to bundle off a member of the section in a taxi
(domestic probs) leaving us with 10 minutes to work out how to "cover"
his part which is why the timpanist was also playing the triangle from
time to time.

Kind regards,
Alan M. Watkins
