Re: "Owning" roles.



I think owning also has more of a sense in terms of live
performances....also remember that in certain houses, singers did for a
period "own" the roles...either the house would only cast them with those
singers, or the singers would say that if anyone else sang them, they'd
leave. So it's not as if it's a made-up concept.
