Verdi - A Curiosity
Only Oberto and I Lombardi have libretti derived from Italian source
materials. All his other operas are based on German, British, Spanish and
French literature. As far as I can tell I am the only person to ever notice
this stunning fact, although Verdi himself may have been aware of it. And it
wouldn't surprise me if Grandpa Dave knows it too. The burden of this
knowledge is too great for me to bear alone, so I'm going public with it.
Whether this is a good topic for a thread I cannot say. But I feel much
better now.
