Well said, Evelyn! Call me a traditionalist but Violetta dying of AIDS
instead of consumption has to rank up there in the top 10 Stupid
Decisions of Stage Directors.

When I was a teenager I always wanted to get consumption as I thought
it would be a terribley "romantic" affliction to suffer from. I even
tried to refuse to have my TB vaccine injection at school but despite
my objections (and passing out in terror from needle phobia) the
fascist bastards waited until I came round, shoved me in a chair and
stuck a needle in my arm. Suppose I could sue them, as I totally did
not give my consent. And now I couldn't catch consumption even if I
*wanted* to.
