Believe me, I know that everyone has different tastes in music, and
that it's unreasonable to expect everyone to enjoy the same things.
That would be boring, so I appreciate the diversity amongst us.
I will also be the first to admit that there have been many things
sent to me (by Red and others) that don't strike a chord with me.
When this happens, I'm still thankful, and will probably pass little
comment.
Red turned me on to Kaczmarek several years ago now, and although I
may have eventually discovered his music on my own, I will always be
thankful for Red's efforts and encouragement. Now while I don't like
everything Kaczmarek I've heard, I consider him one of my favorite
composers.
As for Quo Vadis, to my ears it's his masterpiece thus far. The
track, "Lament," which all of you seem to be having a difficult time
with, is a unique piece, and one of my favorite tracks on the
recording. I can see where some might not be like it or find it
esthetically pleasing to the ear. All I can say is this is a piece of
music that not only needs to be heard...but needs to be felt. If you
can't feel it....then so be it.
I also believe that when one knows that a certain piece of music is
near and dear to someone's heart, that it's not cool to continually
bash and make jokes about it. I, myself, have become rather sick of
hearing the yodeling reference lately. It's become hurtful...and
disrespectful.
Oh, and by the way, I know Red well enough to realize that all his
ROZA, ROWSA, ROSZA, etc. bribes are all in fun and meant for my
benefit......So don't even go there.
Red, please be assured that your efforts have not been in vain....not
with everybody at least. I was going to email you in private about
this, but I thought it better to have my point of view presented
publically.
I will always treasure Quo Vadis. I will always treasure our
friendship.
