"Dish, dish on the wall, show me the best movie of all!" Isn't that
how everybody checks the TV schedule?
No. I seldom talk to things on the wall.
We listened to TWWW last night and were mightily impressed! The score
has a lot of variety. I liked the love theme and Novalynne's theme
but what blew me away were the screeching strings in track 2 or 3!
I've never heard strings used quite like that. Very dissonant and
more brutal than Herrmann's Psycho. I liked the Conan music too.
Very epic. I would love to hear what Gregson-Williams could do with a
real symphony orchestra and chorus. He is definitely a major talent.
Well, I think he really shines in Kingdom of Heaven with representing
two ancient cultures. And Sinbad is great fun. The themes in TWWW are
lovely... strangely the guitar solo cue is what opens up the film, but
is pushed back on the CD. And of course there is the novel use of
"heroic Conan-eque" music that flows behind Bob Howard when he
describes his creation... so the music paints the picture perfectly.
We listened to the first track of Mystery CD and the harp tells me it
must be Eye of the Devil! Buddy made me turn TCM so he could watch
The Most Dangerous Game (1932) starring Joel McCrae and Fay Wray.
Yer gonna spoil that dog!
I
couldn't figure out what Buddy would want to watch it for until I
realized that the plot involves a mad Russian on a deserted jungle
island who lures shipwreck victims and uses them as game. Aha! For a
change the poor critters are NOT the game!
Sounds like the FSM message board.
We will listen to the rest of the mystery cd tonight.
Thanks Uncle Scarlet O'Parsnip.
PS -- Maybe Sparrow was trying to order a movie from the big white
bowl?
Sparrow likes to sleep in my lap, rolled over on her back, with her
paws sretched up to my lips. She doesn't talk to walls, watch TV, or
chases horses.
Only dogs.
