Will it never end? TWO movies from one tiresome childrens' book?
Where will be the exciting break point?

Hardly "tiresome". In fact, I've just started reading it to the
daughter,
and I never read LOTR in its entirety without reading The Hobbit.

This smells so much of $money$ that it stinks.

Well, they've got a built in audience and kind of a no-brainer project
here. What are they supposed to do? Never film the book that JRRT
wrote first, just to avoid the appearance of trying to make money?

And it's a rather tragically naive perspective to think that a motion
picture studio makes *any* movie for any reason other than to make money.

Tragically? You mean my perspective means bunnies will die in Miami?

The film THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD was made for just over a million
dollars, in 26 days, no one went to see it, it received high critical
praise... and was an act of love for all involved with little
expectations. Zellwegger stated it was her first adult role, it
established her as an actress capable of being a woman, and she loved
her character Novelyn Price Elliss very much.

Evidently there are dead bunnies in Miami since there have been the
few occasions when films are made when there is little faith behind
them. The original Miracle on 34th Street was considered a dud by its
studio that they released it in the summer, not at Christmas time. Boy
were they surprised. And wasn't there a penquin movie recently that
did boffo box office beyond a Tom Cruise oinment?

Those studios are businesses and businesses exist for one reason and one
reason only.

Which is why we have such classics as Final Destination, Final
Destination II, Final Destination III, and Final Destination IV: The
Revenge of the Bunnies.
