Re: Apparently OT (The EB FMC Box)

.. At least here it seems that the
chatterers have a serious interest in Film Music (unlike on the silent
group where the chatterers are mosly one obnoxious troll posting under
numerous names) but I'm not sure whether that makes the
rec.music.movies experience more or less annoying.

Well, sir, hopefully LESS annoying. You will find we are a SMALL
group... which I am beginning think isn't really a bad thing seeing
that larger and more annoymous newsgroups have those numerous
obnoxious trolls... and we only have one.

But I think it fair to say that the regulars here have a GREAT
knowledge and some even a VAST collection of soundtracks... we touch
upon the topic of soundtracks constantly... but we are also having FUN
with each other: sticking pins on a creative level into those we truly
admire most. This is a VERY sarcastic cocktail party that can,
indeed, go wildly off topic. But after you have had a few exchanges
on a certain topic, you can either beat that dead horse or just have
fun with it. I think we lean toward the fun.

OK so this is probably what provoked my initial snarkiness. I wish the
posting patterns of the group would change but I don't expect it to
happen, so I'll keep skipping through the junk looking for news and
opinions of interest. Carry on.....

Oh, your snarkiness was understood (and wasn't all that snarky,
anyway)... and I don't think anyone would take umbrage because you
also expressed a serious interest in soundtracks rather than just do a
hit and run for the sake of vandalism. You will be suprised how
newcomers here are WELCOMED and encouraged to stay... we have a
couple of lady posters who are MOST charming and happy to see a new
face... though they can still hold their own (or yours) in a heated
exchange. They are off right now on vacation and family matters... or
invading Guam. JUNK? Watch it, buster; it's through that JUNK we
get to know better whom we are dealing with...

And yeah, we are small enough to know that Cranky Dana has confessed
purchasing the Elmer box, Moontreker is trying to trace it down
through his usual blackmarket (he he he) dealings, and the rest of us
covet but can not afford... though are more than happy to accept any
and all largesse. ;-)

Thus you can assume rightly we exchange recordings here so all have
the opportunity to discuss a singular piece of music... it's better
than SOME places that simply list: I have this music (and you don't).
That is no fun. So start as many topics on film scores as you wish...
and you will get comments galore... before it all goes willy nilly and
Gumdrops is sitting in the corner picking his toes and the magnificent
parsnip is vilified unjustly. You can vilify Tallguy justly... he's
from England.

And look at this logically... the posting patterns WILL change... they
always do... we are just less restricted (and a few do not wear
underwear).
