After not that much use over the course of a couple of years, the cork
on my fairly new copper Harmon came off, in one piece. Bit of
grumbling - for what they charge for the thing you'd think the glue
would last. I have a cheap aluminum one from high school that's still
on tight.
Anyway.
I removed the residue on the mute with Acetone, and am wondering
what's a good glue to put it back on.
Dear Doc, & list:
I've tried a few things. First was rubber cement. It worked for
about a week. Next came Elmer's spray on art adhesive, a gummy,
white, solvent-based sort of mastic. It works well enough but it
stays soft and the cork pieces keep coming loose. If i get tired of
always sticking the thing back together I may clean it all up and try
silicone RTV.
Life is a bitch and then you die. Good luck!
