I wonder if any reader has experience cleaning out graphite? Is graphite
dangerous to breath in? The mineral spirits is bad for sure.
It is only a form of carbon. Diamonds and charcoal are other
common forms. It happens to be a crystaline form where the crystals
form planes and slip on each other. It is probably about as harmless as
you can get as long as you don't clog your lungs with it.
No idea how to get rid of it, unfortunately.

Also it is used as a general lubricant where the wood could have
friction on it.
As for carbon being harmless, I think the nano-particles found in laser
printer toner, and "bucky-balls" which may be present in soot are at least
suspect, if not proven bad actors in the body.
