How to move my accordion?

I am going to be moving to VA in a week and then a month after that
going up to school in Utah. I was wondering if it was better to
invest in a nice bag and carry it with me on the plane or just put it
in a box with lots of foam, etc... and ship it? The box will be
cheaper but I'm not sure about what heat will do to an accordion.
Anyways, just wanted some advice from you all on how to best approach
this problem.
