i have watched anti for years...ok...the biggest point i have tried to
make to him was;
write a bunch of words, but only put out the ones that are...do not just
sit back and inundate
everyone with your every whim...i can't stand ass-kissers...if someone
were to give me valid criticism on any of my works i certainly take a
second look...
Okay, let's start with your Usenet article.
If you wish to maximise the impact of your article, you need to learn how
to use capital letters at the beginning of sentences and for the word "I".
Nowadays, failing to do so doesn't make you look rebellious or
non-conformist; it just looks ignorant. You might also want to maintain a
firmer grip on your use of white space and punctuation.
Less superficially, you will win a greater market share if you can gain
tighter control over your phrasing - "ass-kissers" sounds too dreadfully
transatlantic to be fashionable, and "i can't stand [whatever]" will
simply remind people of the character of Lena Lamont, in "Singing in the
Rain", making you sound ridiculous rather than adamant.
Tighten it up, get the case work and punctuation right, drop the spurious
white space, and lose all the content in favour of something worth
reading, and maybe - just maybe - we can make you a Usenet star.
i could sit here right now and write 15 statements...
Oh dear.
does that mean i share every damn one of them...no, it does not...angry,
well yea,
sometimes i get pissed and say the wrong things...dammit...ok? we as
artists tend to live on the fringe of ice...
It seems to me that "artist" is like "hacker" (in the hackish sense of that
word), in that it is far more impressive to be described as one by other
such people than to describe oneself in that way.
when we fall through it.well, we fall...but at least i say what i
mean...not what i think everyone wants to hear...
It is certainly true that what you say is not what you think everyone wants
to hear. In fact, it is possible that you have reached the opposite
extreme.
by the way.sean, thank you for your comment on my work.I took my thyme
You can get help for that, nowadays. Thyme addiction is now much more
understood than it was formerly, there is much less social stigma attached
to it nowadays, and in any case the clinics are very discreet.
and only put out the ones I thought worthy.my music was done in weekends,
not months.it doesn't always sound the best but it was the best I could
do under the circs.
Ah, how refreshing! YES - that's the secret. Well, /a/ secret, anyway.
Maybe we can be the best and maybe we can't, BUT we CAN be the best that
we can be. In everything, not just music. In writing, in conversation, on
Usenet, whilst driving, at our workplace... In all that we do, we should
do it as if we were taking part in the world championship final and aiming
to win.
