Hello,

<...>
Now Im working on the first piece that uses eight notes for the right
hand, C thru C. Now, the fingering guide is indicating that I should
be playing G with 3.

Why? G was 2 when it demonstrated how I play the scale, now it has
changed without explanation.

What's the full fingering/note sequence?

(i'll use the little c for middle c and capital for the octave above)

notes are cGCGAGFEDGc

fingering guide is 13535432151

Okay, that makes sense. Fingering always depends on context -- how you're
arriving at a note, and where you're headed next. If you're playing the C
major scale, that's one thing. But if you're playing a tune that uses the
notes of the C major scale, that's another. You don't retain the same
fingering from the scale and use it for tunes. Here, the note sequence is
C - G - C, spanning an octave. A fingering of 1 - 3 - 5 is perfectly
sensible; it's the easiest way to play those three notes in sequence.
Depending on the tune, any given finger could wind up being the best choice
for playing a G in context.- Hide quoted text -

ok, fair enough. Bit daunting. So I'll learn somewhere along the line
which of the possible fingerings is right for each piece?
