I would be interested in what you find out. Please update the newsgroup.

I do not have any experience with the brand, but would like to buy one for
theatre pit work also.

Is the price attractive, or quality or what?

I'm looking to purchase a new glockenspiel for theatre pit work and am
considering a Dynasty brand instrument (along with ones from Yamaha &
Musser). I've never played a Dynasty instrument but they appear to
have quite a following and endorse some top players. Has anyone ever
played a Dynasty instrument? If so, what can you say about quality as
well as any likes or dislikes?

I met the Dynasty people last November at PASIC in Columbus. In my
never-ending quest to find an affordable instrument for students to
move up to without spending thousands, I talked to them. It seems like
nobody makes a student marimba that fits in the gap between the cheap
bell kit and the full size vibes and 4 1/3+ octave marimbas. They're
in the process of producing such an instrument. I also needed a source
for marching equipment (their specialty), as I started a drumline this
year. As I am already a dealer for various other companies, I applied
and received a Dynasty dealership.

I ordered a number of Dynasty bass drums and quads, with stands and
harnesses. Their products seem to be high quality. Prices are a little
high, probably because (as I understand it), all their drums are made
in the USA. Stands and other metal stuff is made in China.

I think in the long run they're a pretty good bet to stay in the race,
because sooner than later the high price of oil, and thus shipping,
will effectively end the southeast Asian dominance of cheap drums and
percussion.

As far as mallet instruments go, without actually putting them side by
side, I think Dynasty is at least equal to the others. However, if you
don't mind spending some money, try Fall Creek or Equilibrium (Michael
Udow). I believe they both sell some pretty high end/very nice
instruments.

If you'd like, I'll be glad to get you a price on the Dynasty
instrument. My prices tend to be reasonable because I don't stock a
whole lot. My store is primarily online; any stock I have is kept here
in my percussion school, which is my main business.
