Hey audio experts, I have a question. If you convert a WAV file to mp3
format then back to a WAV format do you still have all the digital
info that was on the first WAV? As I understand it, when you convert
to mp3 you loose digital information to get to the "compressed" file
size. Is that info eliminated in the process or just compressed? It's
my belief that you don't get that back when you reconvert back to WAV.
Am I wrong?

Re: Converting WAVs into MP3s ... Technically, the data on a CD is not a wav file, but a format known as CDDA. ... The raw data content, however, is substantially identical to that of a wave file, and any program which extracts audio from a CD will extract it into a wav format.... Also a formerly paid for program that is now free, Audiograbber, can do it, but you need to supply your own MP3 coded. ... (comp.sys.laptops)
