Re: Double Bass Trouble

They sound like shit in this video. Of course I don't classify this noise as
music but that's just me. The did name the song right. ;o)

I watched a video of Pete Sandoval on youtube (Morbid Angel) and was
expecting him to be going absolutely nuts on the drumkit through the entire
song. Not the case. He plays lightly and relaxed for the music they are
playing but all his drums are triggered so I am sure the sound is
incredible. Watch this video, seems to be done with a consumer video cam,
and his drums aren't even distorting the on camera mic.

I got into the whole double kick world and went through the same pain. I
didn't have much use for the 16ths or 32nd Pantera type beats in any song
but it definately helped on kick triple/quad flares and runs down the toms
with the kick in tow. I actually started excercising at my desk during
the day at work by tapping my feet while keeping my leg muscles tense. I
would go home and be nice and loosey goosey for the kit.

Good luck;
Steve

Two words: triggers. Oh, wait, that's only one word.

Yeah, they impress me quite a bit, too

Hello,
I've been playing for a good 20 years and am having issues with
getting the coordination / speed happening with my double bass pedal.
I've always been a single pedal player but just recently picked up a
pearl eliminator and am stymied. What happens is that I can play say
continuous 16ths at a moderate speed, but then choke up when I try to
speed up. My coordination goes poo and my thighs upper muscles starts
hurting around my groin.
Any exercises to fix this?
I play mostly funk and jazz but would like to build this up a bit.
I look at these cats in Pantera and these speed metal bands and can't
understand how the hell they do it, especially for that long.
Thanks,
Gorge
