Word to the wise: be careful! A friend of mine had his laptop
(foolishly) set up with his kit, and whapped it with a stray stick.
Long story short, the screen was no more.

Especially if it is your work computer.

I wouldn't bring a laptop to a gig ever, not even to record (theft,
beer spills, people knocking it off a table, etc) and even for
practice for the above reason it's alot easier to just print out your
cheat-sheets and put them in a binder on a music stand.


I agree, I'd never have one at a gig I was playing. I could possibly see
using it to record one the gigs where I just run sound.

I do have one by the kit during rehearsal, as a front end to my PC recording
rig. I also keep all of the cover songs on there so I don't have to dig
through a stack of CD's if someone needs to refresh their memory.
